What´s for lunch, Charley?

¨La Comida¨is the big meal here, served at 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Here at school we eat at 1, at one of two restaurants. The first is Mexican, and has a full meal including soup (usually broth with some stuff in it, sometimes vegetables, sometimes beans or lentils), rice, two entrees, like tostadas, some kind of chicken, mystery meat or once even chicken cordon blu (spelling, please!). Usually there is also salad, beans and a dessert of some kind. We always have agua fresca, which is water into which some kind of fruit has been blended. We´ve had pineapple (natch), melon, watermelon, cucumber and one with rice that I don´t like. It´s refreshing, but not sweet.
At the vegetarian restaurant, you get the same thing, but you can choose entrees. Since none of us have huge vocabularies, it´s kind of a mystery what you´re going to get sometimes. One day we had salad with beets! Yum!
Today, the best, we had SPLIT PEA SOUP! I wish John Newman could have been here for that!
