Today we did our reports that we had (sort of) been preparing all week. Mine was on the mexican revolution.
We celebrate 5 de Mayo in the states, when Mexico won its independence from France, but what´s really important is the 20th of November, when the dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz ended and the constitution was written. Here in Puebla, the battle began early, on Novembe r18.
I used Laminas to write my report, which are Mexico´s answer to the internet. You buy these sheets that are on all kinds of subjects. They are the size of a placemat, and have pictures on one side and words on the other. They are a great way to learn vocabulary, and it´s fun to see what subjects they actually have in that store!
At any rate, my report went well. I bought a cd of revolutionary songs and we played one afterwards.

Did you guys get to march around the room wearing hats and brandishing sabers? :) All good revolutions need some saber brandishing.
ReplyDeleteDid you write your report, or read it in front of your classmates? BTW, I wondered if the two classmates from your picture are going to be with you for all of your weeks. (You have two left?) Or do you meet new people as you go along?
ReplyDeleteNo saber rattling, unfortunately. I left my saber at home with my cannon.
ReplyDeleteI wrote the report out and read it, not like I would usually speak, unfortunately. I did extemporaneize a bit when I could, but it turned out pretty well. My classmates will be with me all four weeks, as we are at the same level. Our guides change each week so we get a new perspective.
